There’s Something Special about the First Days of School

FROM THE DESK OF THE SUPERINTENDENT

There’s something special about the first days of school, the buzz of conversation in the hallways, the excitement in classrooms, and the sense of anticipation that fills the air. As superintendent of Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD, I can tell you, our schools feel complete again. We are thrilled to welcome our students back for what promises to be an incredible 2025–2026 school year.

This year brings exciting updates to how we support student learning across EMS ISD. We are launching two new instructional resources designed to strengthen students’ foundational skills and academic growth and provide our teachers a one-stop shop for planning.

In math, our kindergarten through eighth-grade students will begin using the Bluebonnet Math curriculum, a resource built to deepen understanding and engage students in real-world problem-solving. At the same time, our kindergarten through fifth-grade classrooms will implement Amplify Texas, a set of English Language Arts resources that helps students become confident, capable readers and writers. We’re eager to see the impact these tools will have as our students learn and grow throughout the year.

But even the best teachers and resources are only effective when students are present.

Attendance is one of the most important factors in student success. When a child misses even one day of school, they lose valuable instructional time that can be hard to make up. That’s why we’re asking for your partnership in making attendance a priority this year. When students show up every day, they stay connected, on track, and build the habits that lead to long-term success.

At EMS ISD, we believe every student deserves access to a strong, supportive learning environment, and that starts with being in the classroom. We are proud of the year we’ve prepared, proud of our dedicated staff, and proud to serve this incredible community.

Thank you for trusting us with your children. We’re looking forward to a school year full of growth, progress, and endless possibilities.

We’re glad you’re here, and we’re ready for all that’s to come.

Jerry D. Hollingsworth, Ed.D., Superintendent of School, EMS ISD
