Nearly three decades into a corporate career with GEICO, Greg Hilst left it behind to be a part of GEICO’s expansion of local offices. He, with help from his brother Kevin and many others, opened Blue Star Insurance Group in Keller in April 2019. 

“I really thought it was a great opportunity. The agency owners I worked with throughout the state were happy doing it and really enjoyed being the face of GEICO in the local community,” Greg said. “So, when an opportunity to open a new office became available in the DFW area, I knew I had to jump on it.”

GEICO is well known for its best-in-class auto insurance, but there is much more to GEICO! Customers can also obtain home/renters, boat, motorcycle, and RV insurance through Blue Star Insurance Group. The agency is active in the Keller and surrounding communities but can help with your insurance needs throughout the state. 

“We work closely with the Keller Parks and Rec to help support and engage in the community,” Greg added. “We support events such as Keller Summer Nights, Keller Lights, Fishing for Fun, Trash Bash cleanup and we are the main stage sponsor for Holly Days” he said. “GEICO has a Military Team that helps us support military initiatives like JROTC Scholarships and Veteran’s Day parades. These are some of my favorite events as we give back and support the military.” 

Accolades are nothing new for this agency. Besides a plethora of five-star reviews, Blue Star Insurance was named 2024 Most Valuable Partner Award by GEICO Corporate. Keller Living Magazine recently selected it as 2025 Best Insurance Agent, and Business Rate recognized it for high Google reviews in 2025.
