From the Desk of the Superintendent

A New School Year School Brings an Undeniable Energy

There’s an undeniable energy that comes with the start of a new school year. In the first month alone, we’ve seen classrooms filled with curiosity, campuses alive with activity, and students already building the connections and routines that set the tone for success. It is always inspiring to watch our schools come back to life after summer and to see our community working together to make the year the best it can be.

This fall also brings exciting academic enhancements across our district. Our kindergarten through eighth-grade students are diving into the new Bluebonnet Math curriculum, designed to deepen understanding and encourage real-world problem solving. At the same time, elementary students are engaging with Amplify Texas, a literacy resource that builds confident readers and writers. These tools are already sparking rich learning experiences in our classrooms, and we are eager to see the long-term impact they will have.

Even with the best resources, student learning begins with something very simple: being present. This year, EMS ISD launched an attendance awareness campaign called “Here Today, Ready for Tomorrow.” The message is straightforward but powerful, every day in school matters. Research shows that even one missed day can interrupt learning and create gaps that are difficult to close. Regular attendance keeps students connected, on track, and developing the habits that lead to future success in school and beyond.

We know mornings can be hectic, and unexpected challenges arise. That’s why we are asking for your partnership in helping students make it to school every day possible. Whether it’s encouraging good bedtime routines, setting out supplies the night before, or simply offering words of support at the start of the day, families play a vital role in building consistent attendance habits. And when students are here today, they truly are ready for tomorrow.

As superintendent, I am deeply grateful for the commitment I see across our community, from parents and guardians to teachers, staff, and local partners who champion our students. Together, we are creating a culture of learning and belonging that gives every child the opportunity to thrive.

The year is off to a strong start, and I look forward to all that lies ahead. Thank you for entrusting us with your children, for supporting the importance of attendance, and for being an essential part of the EMS ISD family. The future is bright, and it begins with the choices we make today.
