Dr. Jerry D. Hollingsworth Named EMS ISD Superintendent

Following an extensive search of highly qualified candidates across Texas, the EMS ISD Board of Trustees has officially named Dr. Jerry D. Hollingsworth as the district’s new superintendent. Dr. Hollingsworth, a seasoned educator with 32 years of experience in public education, will assume his role on January 4, 2025.

The decision to hire Dr. Hollingsworth followed a comprehensive process that prioritized community feedback. Stakeholder focus groups and online surveys guided the Board’s evaluation of candidates, ensuring the new leader aligned with community priorities. Among the qualities identified as essential were student-centered leadership, a commitment to transparency and communication, and experience managing growth and change.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Hollingsworth to Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD,” said EMS ISD Board President Dr. Marilyn Tolbert. “With his extensive leadership experience, student-first mindset, and collaborative approach, he is the ideal person to build upon the strong foundation established by Dr. Chadwell and his predecessors. His vision and integrity will propel EMS ISD forward as we continue to serve our growing community.”

Dr. Hollingsworth joins EMS ISD from Waxahachie ISD, where he has served as superintendent since 2021, spearheading initiatives focused on strategic planning, instructional alignment, and enrollment growth. Prior to that, he served as superintendent of Bandera ISD and held leadership positions at the campus and district executive levels in Burleson ISD, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, and Carroll ISD. He began his career teaching U.S. Government and Spanish in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD.

A graduate of nearby Boyd High School, Dr. Hollingsworth earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University and both his master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of North Texas. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he is active in the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA), the Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary Club.

During a special meeting on December 2, 2024, the Board approved Dr. Hollingsworth’s contract. His appointment marks the culmination of a transition process led by outgoing Superintendent Dr. Jim F. Chadwell.

Dr. Hollingsworth expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm for joining EMS ISD, saying, “My family and I are honored to serve the students, staff, and families of Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. We have already felt the warm embrace of this community and look forward to calling EMS ISD our home.”

As Dr. Hollingsworth steps into this leadership role, he is committed to continuing the district’s tradition of excellence while preparing for future challenges. During his first few weeks in EMS ISD, Hollingsworth will work closely with outgoing Superintendent Dr. Jim F. Chadwell, who will assist with the transition of leadership as Superintendent Emeritus until his retirement on January 31, 2025.
